The 2004 Nobel Peace Prize Winner, Prof. Wangari
Maathai, who is also the Assistant Minister for Environment and
Natural Resources in Kenya, visited the Sergio Vieira De Mello Library
on Monday 11th October 2004 and signed the visitors book.
Prof. Wangari Maathai was attendinga 3 days conference on Women
As the Voice for the Environment (WAVE) at United Nations Environment Programme.
In her signing she appreciated the Library for the good work its
doing at the United Nations Offices at Nairobi with the following
words "Thank you all for your great support here at UNEP"
She also had an opportunity to walk around the Library and see
the plaque of the United Nations Secretary General when he was awarded
the Nobel Peace Prize in 2001
