The Library in the last few weeks hosted the Information Officer from the African Regional Labour Administration Centre (ILO/ARLAC, from 22nd May to 26th May 2006 for some information resources training. The Information Officer learnt amongg other things: Cataloguing and Classification of materials using latest cataloguing software, Design, content management and updating of the Website, Management of the Cyberspace, Internet Searching and use of On-line databases, Current Awareness, Selective Dissemination of Information, Promotion of Library Services and Publishing and editing.
ARLAC was conceived in 1974, as a project of the International Labour Organization (ILO) and UNDP for the development of labour adminstration in African member countries. The ARLAC Information Centre continues to provide dynamic and active information services in all areas of labour administration and other related fields of major concern to labour administration, such as human resource planning and development and HIV/AIDS in the labour market.
